Open Source Software Development
Creating open source software benefits the community, allowing everyone to learn and grow together while advancing scientific discovery. With extensive involvement in the R ecosystem, contributions include participation in events like the rOpenSci Unconference in 2017, the development and maintenance of two popular CRAN packages—shinyLP and ttbbeer—and several packages on GitHub, such as shinyGEO and gramr. In addition, I led a project group to create custom technical documentation for R package developers, funded by the R Consortium. Recently, I reached a milestone of 100,000 downloads for these CRAN packages!
This commitment to open source development centers on writing clean, well-documented functions, producing detailed documentation, and developing package websites. These efforts aim to empower others to share, learn, and grow, ultimately making a lasting impact on the R community and advancing scientific discovery.
